Why is Fiberscope Security Equipment Used for Drug Interdiction?

Fiberscope security equipment refers to a fiber optic tool that is flexible and has a fiber optic light included to allow things to be seen in small areas or areas that are difficult to get to. The CSECO FV Series Fiberscope is one of these, and is included in the CT-30 Contraband Team Detection Kit. The flexible fiberscope is made up of a bunch of fiber optic fibers, which allow light and visibility. It can be equipped with a digital camera or camcorder, which allows recording of items at the hidden end of the tool. Some areas where this is used include car doors, fuel tanks, behind dashboards, under seats, between walls, and other potentially hidden areas.

The FV Series Fiberscope is all one piece, so there are no parts to lose. The battery is built in and rechargeable, and the LED light is also built in. It features two-way articulation, allowing all directions to be viewed, and can be operated with one hand. Still pictures and video capture are a part of the camera’s functionality and the digital camera that is recommended allows images to be reviewed instantly.

Drug interdiction refers to the process of curtailing the smuggling of controlled substances, and includes detection of contraband, monitoring transports, intercepting deliveries, disrupting transactions, and apprehending the people involved in the illegal activity. One of the primary players in the war on drugs is the U.S. Coast Guard, since they patrol a large proportion of the country’s borders. The U.S. Customs and Border Patrol also play a large part, since they handle anything that comes in by air. Federal organizations and regional law enforcement agencies work together with these two to keep as many illegal drugs as possible from entering the United States. In local areas, drug interdiction includes drug busts on street corners to raiding meth labs, to catching contraband at the borders of the city or state. Even private citizens can be helpful in drug interdiction by keeping an eye out and being willing to identify those who are dealing or using illegal narcotics.

Fiberscopes – also known as borescopes or endoscopes – are an important tool when agents are working to find and stop the trafficking of drugs. It allows agents to see into places that would otherwise be impossible. CSECO’s FV Series Fiberscope and CT-30 Contraband Team Detection Kits are frontrunners of fiberscope security equipment being used in the war on drugs in the United States.
