Tony Harris Takes Seat on Fuel Systems Solutions, Inc. Board of Directors

Tony Harris, President and CEO of Campbell/Harris Security Equipment Company (CSECO), was asked to take a position on the Fuel Systems Solutions, Inc. Board of Directors. Fuel Systems Solutions, Inc. designs and manufactures alternative fuel components and systems. Its corporate office is in New York, New York. Harris replaced William J Young on the Audit and Compensation Committees. He began his tenure on the board of directors on December 31, 2013.

Fuel Systems Solutions, Inc.’s Chairman and CEO Mariano Costamagna said Harris was chosen because of his experience and having proven himself in numerous businesses. “Tony’s success as a senior executive in operations, marketing, and business acquisition at both corporate and entrepreneurial companies will serve Fuel Systems Solutions well." Costamagna continued by explaining that Harris also had experience with strategy formation, leadership development, performance and management compensation which will prove valuable to the company’s shareholders. “The board joins me in welcoming him to Fuel Systems."

Tony Harris is a 1975 graduate with a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University. He also holds an MBA from Harvard Graduate School of Business (1979). He recently stated, “Now is a very exciting and important time in the development of the global market for gaseous fuel powered automotive and industrial engines." He continued by saying that he looks forward to working with the other board of director members as well as helping them ‘drive the company toward future success.”

Harris took over as President and CEO at CSECO in 2006. The company manufactures contraband detection equipment including the Buster contraband detector, or Buster K910B Density Meter as it’s officially named. This piece of equipment, along with the FV Series Fiberscope and CT-30 Contraband Team Detection Kit, is used to detect narcotics, ‘dirty bombs’ or other explosives and contraband. Organizations using the contraband detection equipment manufactured by CSECO include the US State Department, US Customs and Border Protection, state and local law enforcement agencies and similar agencies in foreign countries.

  • Calpine Corporation vice president where he was involved in brand management, marketing strategy development and new product development
  • PG and E Energy Services National Account Services and Western Regional Sales vice president
  • Pacific Gas and Electric Company in a variety of roles including Director of Alternative Fuel Vehicles
  • Standard Pacific Gas Line Inc. president
  • Ford Motor Company Production Supervisor
  • Ford Aerospace and Communications Corporation Program Manager
  • StyleChoice.com president which was an entrepreneurial start-up venture in Silicon Valley
  • Sonoma Ford/Lincoln Mercury president and CEO

Harris’ alma mater, Purdue University, has also recognized his commitment to excellence. In 1999 they named him the Purdue Outstanding Mechanical Engineer. In 2008, he was named Distinguished Engineering Alumnus and in 2013 he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Engineering degree.

He founded the National Society of Black Engineers while a student at Purdue; Harris remains active on the organization’s National Advisory Board. He also serves on the board of directors for the SF Jazz Center Foundation and the One Pacific Coast Bank advisory board. He was recently tapped to take a position on the Office of Global Affairs Strategy Advisory Board for Purdue University.
