Campbell-Harris Security Equipment Company (CSECO), maker of the Buster Density Meter, is fully aware of the difficulty and potential danger of the job of being interdiction officers. We know and understand that the job of tracking down and seizing hidden narcotics, drugs (illegal or legally prescribed) and other types of contraband is a tough and often delicate mission. So we have been constantly looking ways and using the latest technology to come up with tools that many law enforcement agencies can trust and use in their everyday duties.

Law enforcement agencies around the country, and in many parts of the world, need tools that use the latest technology. They also need tools that are user-friendly. They need tools that are also durable under any conditions, perform fast, can provide relevant and accurate results, are easy to handle and are safe as well. Fortunately in this day and age, officers can have access to these tools they can put their trust on. One such contraband detection tool is the world-renowned Buster K910B Density Meter from CSECO, which will help them to positively locate the presence of a hidden contraband.

CSECO’s president Tony Harris stated, “In the early 1980s, there wasn’t much technology to help the Border Patrol to determine if someone was smuggling something inside a vehicle.” He further went on to say that officers 30 years ago or so used whatever available for them: hands, rudimentary tools, and obviously, their hunch. These were the things that those officers could only rely on in trying to find the contraband in question — and detecting contraband successfully was more of by chance. However, most of the time, the hidden smuggled items went undetected.

That’s why one day the federal government approached Patrick J. Campbell, the founder of CSECO, to develop and design a new device to help them locate the presence of contraband — accurately and positively. Campbell agreed to come up with a new detection tool if only he could work with the end users — agents from the Customs and Border Protection. He worked closely with the CBP officers and eventually came up with CSECO’s first product — the Buster K910B. It used a back-scatter technology to aid users the presence of a hidden item.

With the advancement of technology, interdiction officers and agents don’t have to search for contraband with great difficulty as well as to second-guess where these items are concealed. The Buster uses the most advanced and sophisticated technology which enables users to scan and detect hidden contraband — quickly, effectively, and accurately!

The Buster gives off a low-intensity gamma radiation that is used to measure the density of an item that can be possibly hidden underneath. When the Buster finally reads a remarkable and unusual change in density, it gives off an audible alert or visual alarm. Since most items have different densities, these alerts will allow agents to notice remarkable changes in density very quickly, which could indicate the presence of a hidden contraband. This sophisticated technology of the Buster enables officers to scan on any type of material — be it wood, metal, reinforced plastic, rubber, concrete — without damaging it.

Officers in ports, borders and airports around the country have been seen using the Buster, like the US Customs and Border Protection agents. Their job is to determine whether or not narcotics, illegal drugs, stolen currency, jewelry and/or gold, hidden goods (foodstuffs, cigarettes, and liquor), weapons and explosives are hidden in vehicles, bags, containers, etc. It may not be important where these are; the most important for these officers is to know that they trust and use their tools which they use to positively and effectively alert them to the existence of hidden drugs, etc. and other smuggled items.

The Buster is also equipped with the newest technology, the RAD-Aware. This enables first responders to form a safety zone away for the civilians in case of a dirty-bomb detonation or any other radioactive leaks.

With its capabilities of detecting several and endless types of contraband, scanning on any type of material and detecting the presence of the dangerous radiation as well as safety, why would anyone would settle less than the Buster? The Buster K910B is not only one of the most trusted, but also one of the most recommended density meters by law enforcement officers in the US and around the world.
