Campbell/Harris Security Equipment Company (CSECO) is behind the Buster K910B Density Meter. It is the company’s flagship product as well as the world’s first density meter designed for contraband detection. Since it was introduced, competitors have come up with tools which are similar to the Buster in some ways. However, its sophisticated and innovative technology has almost always beaten the competition, making the Buster a “gold standard” in contraband detection/density meter.

The Buster K910G retains most of the features of the K910, including the low-intensity gamma radiation and scintillation detector. It helps interdiction officers to scan several types of surfaces from wood to glass to reinforced plastic, even dirt. This very technology also allows officers to detect several types of hidden contraband such as drugs (illegal or prescribed), narcotics, money, jewelry, alcohol, weapons, and explosives. Contraband detection tools that use other technology (millimeter wave, ultraviolet wave, microwave and radio wave) can’t scan the range of materials and detect the kinds of hidden contraband like the Buster K910G does.
The K910G also retains the RAD-Aware technology which detects radioactive leaks, which are dangerous for the life of every organism. This feature enables inspectors (or first responders) to establish safety zones to keep people out of the perils of radioactive leaks (like a dirty bomb).
Other density meters weigh about three pounds or about a kilogram — considered too bulky to do one-handed inspections. Some density meters appear light at first but become heavy once the batteries are included. Some density meters contain lead-based components, which are not only too heavy to be held with one hand, but also dangerous as well.
The Buster K910G is small and compact, measuring only 5.5 x 2.5 x 2.5 inches — certainly smaller than the competing density meters. You can grip it comfortably with just one hand. Plus, it is now less heavy — and even safer to use — because it doesn’t have any lead components, which are present in the K910B. It is also updated with the 7.5 micro curie source, which is at least 25% less than the competing density meters.
The competing density meters read slowly or are not accurate. The Buster, on the other hand, has a 0.25 second per reading scan rate and has the ability to detect hidden contraband as deep as six inches! The Buster has “backscatter radiation.” The low-intensity gamma ray that beams out of the Buster “bounces off” of the suspected object and travels back to the device. The higher the density that the Buster detects, the higher amount of levels of the gamma ray will reflect back to the device. You can move the Buster from one area to the next quickly, while it maintains its accuracy.
