Trust This Density Meter for Narcotics Detection

Trust This Density Meter for Narcotics DetectionNarcotics detection is no mean feat. Before CSECO released their density meter, the “Buster,” officers had to rely on their own senses in hopes of locating hidden contraband, and that could be risky. But thanks to the advanced technology and ingenious minds, there are tools available today that make the job less hazardous and provide results more accurately.

Many years ago police officers trusted trained dogs to sniff for possible hidden contraband such as narcotics and weapons. Even today, police officers and law enforcement agencies still use these K-9 units because they’re known to be reliable. These trained pooches are successful in detecting concealed contraband. Typically the contraband consists of narcotics but these dogs also help discover other items such as explosives, weapons, and currency. However, the disadvantage is that keeping K-9 units can be costly in terms of food, training and housing. Many police departments across the country do not have K-9 units, so what can they do to locate and seize contraband?

Agencies including the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) also use contraband detection tools such as the Buster K910B Density Meter from Campbell/Harris Security Equipment Company (CSECO). Officers can use the Buster along with the K-9 units, or in their absence.

The Buster is dubbed as the “gold standard” in density meters. It is safe to use, therefore officers won’t feel any trepidation or concern to use the Buster even in dangerous circumstances. It has been thoroughly tested since it was introduced back in 1984. Its low-intensity gamma radiation technology allows the Buster to scan through a variety of materials such as metal, wood, reinforced plastic, and others. Its speed also allows the officers to save time especially during border inspections and traffic stops where they need to scrutinize each vehicle they inspect and then move on to another.

The Buster is also portable and user-friendly. It reasonably small (you can grip it with only one hand), lightweight, but also compact. It features audible and visual readouts that are easy to understand.

Law enforcement agents may also need to use other contraband detection tools along with the Buster. One is the Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope Inspection System, one of the CSECO’s newest additions. This one-piece tool has some features and functions similar to the FV Series Fiberscope. However, the Perfect Vision has a large 5-inch color LCD display that allows more ease in visual inspections. This tool is also fuel-resistant and less susceptible to damage even when used heavily, unlike most fiberscopes on the market. And most importantly, it is certified safe by the Underwriters Laboratory (UL), which means that it is safe to use even in hazardous locations like fuel tanks. The Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope is the first videoscope in the world to be awarded this certification.

Narcotics detection remains a very important part of law enforcement and the officers are dedicated to keep the drugs off the streets. That’s why they need contraband detection equipment that they can trust. CSECO’s Perfect Vision V20 Videoscope Inspection System and Buster K910B Density Meter make a formidable team for narcotics detection.
